One Month Out: Your MINNECON 2026 Game Plan

KPOP MINNECON 2026 lands at the Saint Paul RiverCentre on August 29–30 — which means we are officially inside the one-month window. If you're a first-timer, this is the post to bookmark. If you've done this before, skim down to the packing list; there are a couple of things people always forget.

What's Actually On The Floor

Two days, and more running at once than any one person can catch:

Live performances and dance showcases.

Dance workshops you can actually join, not just watch.

A vendor hall stacked with albums, photocards, handmade merch, and small-shop finds you won't see online.

Fan panels.

Meet-and-greets.

Food trucks.

A dance competition, an open mic, and random dance challenges that pull in half the room.

Our honest advice: pick two or three things you'd be disappointed to miss, and let the rest of the weekend happen to you. The best MINNECON moments are usually the unplanned ones.

The Packing List

Comfortable shoes. You will walk and stand more than you think. Cosplay boots are a photo-op, not a floor plan — bring a backup pair in your bag.

A portable charger. Between photos, videos, and a venue full of phones fighting for signal, your battery will not survive to dinner.

Your trading binder — and toploaders. Sleeves protect cards; toploaders protect them in a bag on a crowded floor. Bring more than you think you need.

Cash. Most vendors take cards, but small sellers sometimes hit connection trouble, and cash keeps a line moving.

A water bottle and an actual meal plan. The food trucks are part of the fun, but con days have a way of turning into "I forgot to eat until 4pm." Don't be that person by Sunday.

Photocard Trading that Goes Well

Sort your binder before you arrive — wants on one side, trades on the other. Nobody wants to watch you hunt through forty pages. Know roughly what your cards are worth going in, so you're not negotiating blind, and be upfront about condition: dents, bends, and prints all matter to the person across from you.

And "no thank you" is a complete sentence. A trade you talk yourself into is a trade you regret on the drive home.

Meet-and-Greet Etiquette

Meet-and-greet lines move fast, and that's the whole thing people struggle with. You will have less time than you imagined — so decide ahead of time what one thing you want to say, and say that.

Follow the posted rules on photos, video, and gifts, and follow staff direction without arguing — they're protecting the schedule for everyone behind you. Ask before any physical contact, including hugs. And if you get emotional up there, it's fine. It happens constantly. Nobody is judging you.

Random Dance, for the Nervous

You do not need to be good. You do not need to know a single full choreography. Standing in the circle and cheering is a completely legitimate way to participate, and plenty of people who are now front-and-center started exactly there last year.

If you want one confidence trick: learn a single chorus this month. One. That's all it takes to have a moment.
