Three Weeks Out: Planning a MINNECON Fit You'll Actually Enjoy Wearing

KPOP MINNECON 2026 lands at the Saint Paul RiverCentre on August 29 and 30. That is three weekends from now, which happens to be exactly the right amount of time to put together an outfit you feel great in without any 2 a.m. hot-glue emergencies the night before.

Three Weekends, Three jobs

This weekend: decide what you are wearing and shop your own closet first. Lay everything out on the bed. You almost always own more of the look than you think, and the gap between what you have and what you need is the shopping list.

Next weekend: assemble and do a real try-on. Not a mirror check — put the whole thing on, wig and shoes included, and wear it around the house for an hour. Everything that pinches, slips, or itches will make itself known.

The week of the con: fix whatever the try-on revealed, wash what needs washing, and pack the bag two days early. Anything you order after this point is a gamble.

Build for a Day that Starts at 11 a.m. and Ends at Night

Doors open at 11 a.m. both days and the floor runs until the concert starts. That is a long time on concrete.

Shoes matter more than any other single choice. Break them in now, and if the look calls for something impractical, bring flats in your bag and swap for photos. Late August in Saint Paul means warm outside and air conditioned inside, so layers beat one heavy piece. A thin undershirt under a jacket or corset saves the costume and saves you. Wigs run hot, so pack pins and a hair tie.

If You are Planning to Dance

The random dance challenge, plus dance workshops and showcases are all on the lineup. If you think there is any chance you will end up in that circle, test your choreo in the actual outfit before the con.

Skirts, long sleeves, and platform shoes all behave differently once you are moving, and a shoulder piece that looks incredible standing still can be a problem mid-chorus.

A change of clothes in your bag is never a wasted decision.

Hallway Manners, Quickly

Ask before you photograph someone, every time. Step out of the walkway before you pose so you are not blocking traffic. And if someone says no to a photo, that is a complete answer that needs no follow-up.

First Con? Wear Whatever You Want

If this is your first MINNECON, a plain shirt and a lightstick is a perfectly good outfit, and nobody will think twice about it. Come see what the floor looks like, take notes on the fits that catch your eye, and go bigger next year if you feel like it.
